Jimmy V’s speech is incredible because you can see his enthusiasm and the joy he transmits through the message or statement he wants to make. The courage one must have to have said that he has cancer not only transmits some personal aspects about his life but also how he felt about his life. He refers a lot throughout the speech that we should live life without worries but with responsibilities. We should think about each of the things we get to do every day that others don’t and how we may feel due to the circumstances of the world. I noticed that he mentions that “ laughing or crying” helps you have a better day.
The phrase he mentions “Never give up” is very powerful, because it’s amazing how far one can go by never giving up. Some might say the secret is to create a world of your own with limitless possibilities. The phrase motivates many people in different situations. Usually when it gets to the point where everything is in distress or as some might say “upside down”. I found the hook in that in spite of everything. We should feel as relaxed as possible. The need to laugh and cry is allowed. He keeps this speech personal as he tells of his illness cancer. It ends with “Cancer can take away all my physical abilities.” What he means by this is that we must take care of ourselves no matter what even if it is the least because when you least expect it and change your life drastically.. It motivates me to be better in a way because I like how he expresses himself and how he can talk freely about his situation and everything that has happened to him in his life. It’s very inspirational.
Something interesting is how he talks about his peers, with a lot of respect. For him it is important to know “where you are? where you can find yourself”, because to follow your dreams you have to look for your potential and develop it. We must maintain our enthusiasm with every situation that may occur otherwise we won’t go anywhere in life.
Cancer might take away the physical but not the mental. “Never give up”!
